MurrKatz Maine Coon Cattery Sales Agreement
By purchasing a kitten from MurrKatz Maine Coon Cattery, you agree to be bound by the following terms. You acknowledge that you have read and understood this agreement.
Deposits
-
The deposit is 1,000 dollars and is non-refundable.
Pedigree Guarantee
-
The breeder guarantees that the cat being sold is a Pedigree Maine Coon.
Vaccinations and Release Age
-
Kittens may go home between 12 and 14 weeks.
-
At the time of release, the kitten will have received:
-
Two FVRCP vaccinations
-
Rabies vaccination
-
A health certificate from a certified Arkansas veterinarian
-
Boarding Policy
-
If the kitten has not been picked up or delivered by the kitten’s 16 week birthday, a boarding fee of 50 dollars per day applies.
-
This fee must be paid in advance.
-
Additional charges may apply for required vaccines or veterinary care during boarding.
-
The maximum boarding period is 30 days.
Pet-Only Policy
-
Maine Coon kittens are sold as pets only.
Introducing Your Kitten
-
The buyer agrees to keep the kitten separated from other pets and introduce them gradually over a two week period.
Veterinary Exam Requirement
-
The buyer agrees to take the kitten to a veterinarian for a complete health check within five business days of receiving the kitten.
Spay and Neuter Policy
-
The buyer agrees to spay or neuter the kitten before the kitten reaches nine months of age.
-
The purchaser will receive TICA or CFA registration papers within seven days after providing proof of spay or neuter.
Health and Specific Conditions
If the kitten being purchased for your cattery is diagnosed with any of the following:
Hip Dysplasia
-
X-rays must be evaluated by OFA.
-
A grading of less than Excellent, Good, or Fair qualifies.
HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy)
-
Must be diagnosed by echocardiogram performed by a board-certified cardiologist.
If either condition is confirmed, MurrKatz Cattery will replace the kitten at no charge once:
-
A written diagnosis from a licensed veterinarian is provided.
-
The affected cat has been spayed or neutered and proof is provided.
Health Guarantee
-
Kittens have a three year health guarantee from birth against all genetic, congenital and idiopathic conditions.
-
If any such condition results in the death of the kitten, the breeder will replace the kitten within the next three litters.
-
The buyer must have made a reasonable effort to treat the condition and prevent loss of life. Reasonableness is determined by the breeder.
-

Accidental deaths are not covered. Examples include injury, ingestion of harmful items, injury from another animal, self-injury or any preventable incident.
-
Until the kitten reaches its second birthday, the breeder will reimburse up to 500 dollars for any single veterinary bill over 1,299 dollars that results from a genetic, congenital or idiopathic condition.
-
Conditions caused by accident, neglect or carelessness are not covered.
-
Examples include sprains, broken bones or injuries from other animals.
-

Infectious or contagious diseases are not covered. Examples include URI, FIV, FELV, Chlamydia and Mycoplasma.
-
Proof of veterinary payment must be provided before reimbursement. The breeder has 30 days to reimburse the buyer.
-
Pet insurance is strongly recommended.
Personality Guarantee
The buyer has until the kitten’s six month birthday to decide if the kitten’s personality is a good fit.
If the buyer is unhappy with the kitten’s personality:

The buyer will return the kitten to the breeder at the buyer’s expense.
-
The kitten must be intact and not spayed or neutered.
-
The breeder will provide a replacement kitten within 12 months.
-
The replacement kitten will be between 12 weeks of age and the age of the returned kitten.
-
The buyer is responsible for delivery costs of the replacement kitten.
-
Only one replacement kitten is offered per lifetime.
Buyer Responsibilities
The buyer agrees to:

Keep vaccinations and health care up to date
-
Provide a clean, safe environment
-
Never allow the cat to roam freely outdoors
-
Never place the cat in a shelter
-
Never declaw the cat
Purchasing a kitten makes the buyer solely responsible for the kitten’s care for its entire life.
The breeder is not responsible for veterinary expenses except what is covered in the health guarantee.
While every effort is made to produce healthy kittens, future health cannot be predicted in any living animal.
Breach of Contract
-
This agreement is legally binding and non-transferable.
-
Breach of this agreement cancels any guarantees or warranties.
-
The breeder’s maximum liability is limited to the amount paid for the kitten.
-
Any legal matters will be handled in the state of Arkansas.
-
The breeder reserves the right to cancel this contract prior to the kitten leaving the cattery. In such cases, the buyer will receive a full refund.
Rehoming Policy
-
If the kitten or cat must be rehomed, the breeder has first right of return.
-
All rehoming must be approved by MurrKatz Cattery.
-
The buyer may be asked to deliver the cat to the closest airport.
-
No refunds are given for rehoming situations.
