Scammers, Backyard Maine Coon Cat Breeders, etc. In this day and age we hear a lot about scams, backyard breeders, etc. We want to ensure you that we are none of those things and for you to be vigilant of certain facts: 1.) If the price on a Maine Coon kitten is under $2,000, you very likely have encountered a Maine Coon backyard breeder. They can also be registered but will also sell unregistered Maine Coon kittens. So beware, you get what you pay for literally, which lots of time includes hereditary health issues like HCM which is a heart condition, and various other genetic health problems. ALWAYS make sure you ask to receive the TICA or CFA registration. If a breeder says you do not receive a registration for your kitten at any time RUN! 2.) Really read and understand what a breeder is writing, for example if they justify their low price, really try to understand their justification to see if it even makes sense to you. The breedings and genetic testing of pedigreed Maine Coon cats is expensive and any kitten under $2,000 I wouldn't touch if my life depended on it. It will cost much more in the long run with the health of that kitten. 3.) All Breeders have health guarantees. I have NEVER encountered a breeder that requires any type of receipts for cat food or what brand you are feeding your cat in ANY health guaranty. So if a breeder that has a low price and claims that other breeders with a higher price will ask for receipts for these things is most likely a backyard Maine Coon breeder. 4.) You can ALWAYS facetime the breeder to show you their cats and their kittens, if they come up with excuses, drop them like a hot potatoe. 5.) You can look up the breeders cattery name in the TICA and CFA organization. 6.) If you ever have any questions, you should be able to just call a breeder and ask it.

Kitten Contract Our kitten contract is designed to protect both you and your new Maine Coon, ensuring every kitten is raised, placed and cared for to the highest standard. This contract helps us create a safe, transparent and loving experience for every family and every kitten we place. MurrKatz Maine Coon Cattery Sales Agreement By purchasing a kitten from MurrKatz Maine Coon Cattery, you agree to be bound by the following terms. You acknowledge that you have read and understood this agreement. Deposits The deposit is $1,000 dollars and is non-refundable. Pedigree Guarantee The breeder guarantees that the cat being sold is a Pedigree Maine Coon. Vaccinations and Release Age Kittens may go home between 11 and 14 weeks. At the time of release, the kitten will have received: Two FVRCP vaccinations if old enough Rabies vaccination at 12 weeks A health certificate from a certified Arkansas veterinarian Boarding Policy If the kitten has not been picked up or delivered by the kitten’s 16 week birthday, a boarding fee of $50 dollars per day applies. This fee must be paid in advance. Additional charges may apply for required vaccines or veterinary care during boarding. The maximum boarding period is 30 days. Pet-Only Policy Maine Coon kittens are sold as pets only. Introducing Your Kitten The buyer agrees to keep the kitten separated from other pets and introduce them gradually over a two (2) week period. Veterinary Exam Requirement The buyer agrees to take the kitten to a veterinarian for a complete health check within five (5) business days of receiving the kitten. Spay and Neuter Policy The buyer agrees to spay or neuter the kitten before the kitten reaches seven (7) months of age. The purchaser will receive TICA or CFA registration papers within seven days after providing proof of spay or neuter. Health and Specific Conditions If the kitten being purchased is diagnosed with any of the following: Hip Dysplasia X-rays must be evaluated by OFA. A grading of less than Excellent, Good, or Fair qualifies. HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) Must be diagnosed by echocardiogram performed by a board-certified cardiologist. If either condition is confirmed, MurrKatz Cattery will replace the kitten at no charge once: A written diagnosis from a licensed veterinarian is provided. The affected cat has been spayed or neutered and proof is provided. Health Guarantee Kittens have a Three (3) year health guarantee from birth against all genetic, congenital and accidental conditions. If any such condition results in the death of the kitten, the breeder will replace the kitten within the next two (2) litters. The buyer must have made a reasonable effort to treat the condition and prevent loss of life. Reasonableness is determined by the breeder. Until the kitten reaches its second birthday, the breeder will reimburse up to $500 dollars for any single veterinary bill over $1,299 dollars that results from a genetic, congenital, idiopathic condition. Conditions caused by neglect are not covered. Conditions caused by accidents we will ask $500 to cover our expenses (vet bills, food, etc.) for raising a healthy kitten. Sprains, broken bones or injuries from other animals are not covered. Infectious or contagious diseases are not covered. Examples include URI, FIV, FELV, Chlamydia and Mycoplasma. Proof of veterinary payment must be provided before reimbursement. The breeder has 30 days to reimburse the buyer. Pet insurance is strongly recommended. Buyer Responsibilities The buyer agrees to: Keep vaccinations and health care up to date Provide a clean, safe environment Never allow the cat to roam freely outdoors Never place the cat in a shelter Never declaw the cat Purchasing a kitten makes the buyer solely responsible for the kitten’s care for its entire life. The breeder is not responsible for veterinary expenses except what is covered in the health guarantee. While every effort is made to produce healthy kittens, future health cannot be predicted in any living animal. Breach of Contract This agreement is legally binding and non-transferable. Breach of this agreement cancels any guarantees or warranties. The breeder’s maximum liability is limited to the amount paid for the kitten. Any legal matters will be handled in the state of Arkansas. The breeder reserves the right to cancel this contract prior to the kitten leaving the cattery. In such cases, the buyer will receive a full refund. Rehoming Policy If the kitten or cat must be rehomed, the breeder has first right of return. All rehoming must be approved by MurrKatz Cattery. The buyer may be asked to deliver the cat to the closest airport. No refunds are given for rehoming situations. However, we have created several options for Kitten deliver Nationwide, and of course in person pickup is always available. Option 1: In Person Pickup Pickup Location: Paris, Arkansas Families are welcome to pick up their kitten directly from us once they reach 12 weeks. We set a pickup time in advance so you have a relaxed, stress-free visit and can meet your kitten in a calm environment. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, receive your kitten’s paperwork and supplies, and start bonding right away. If you prefer to travel with your kitten yourself, in-person pickup is the easiest and most straightforward option. Option 2: We Fly Your Kitten To You Delivery to any major airport If you prefer not to travel, we can personally fly with your kitten in the airplane cabin and meet you at the TSA exit of your nearest major airport for a smooth handoff. Additional costs for this service include: • One-way airline ticket • Airline pet-travel fee (usually 100 to 125 dollars) • 200 dollars in cash for delivery This option is ideal for families who want a safe, comfortable travel experience for their kitten without arranging the flight themselves. Option 3: Meeting You At An Airport Near Us Airport Pickup We can meet you at a nearby airport at no additional charge.
