All About Maine Coon Cats The Maine Coon is a beautiful, loving cat you’ll treasure. Social by nature, they make excellent companions for large, active families of all ages — especially those who enjoy having dogs or other animals, including other cats. Despite their size, Maine Coons are among the gentlest of cats, often following their people room to room as faithful companions. Temperament Gentle To Reach Maturity & Growth Around 4 - 5 years Weight Females: 12 - 23lbs (Yet still Larger than an average cat!) Males: 22 - 30lbs (Quite Large!) Life Expectancy Typically 18+ Years Maine Coon Colors & Patterns The Maine Coon breed is available in a variety of colors and patterns except pointed (pale body and relatively darker extremities, i.e. the face, ears, feet, tail and in males, scrotum). The most typical colors and patterns are brown, red (orange) or silver tabbies (with or without white), and in classic ( bold, swirling patterns along the sides, mackerel (which is the classic tabby) or ticked patterns. In most recent years, breeders have been producing solid colored cats in black, white, and blue (grey). The Black smoke and Blue smoke colors are also highly wanted. There are also white colors, but white usually has an underlying color since white is not considered a color. Socialization At MurrKatz, every kitten is raised inside our home and handled daily from the time they are born. Learn how to adopt a Maine Coon kitten from MurrKatz. Simple steps, pre-approval, reservation details and when kittens are ready to go home. Adoption Process We’ve created a simple and thoughtful adoption process to help match our Maine Coon kittens with loving, well-prepared families. This page will guide you through how we handle approvals, reservations, and bringing your kitten home, so you know exactly what to expect before you begin. 01 Fill out an adoption application. 02 Once approved , we will send out pictures of our kittens to potential buyers when they are six (6) weeks old. We will post a date when they are available to be reserved. Please Note: If you do not fill out an application, you will not be notified when new kittens are becoming available. 03 When the reserve date becomes available for each kitten, we will send out an email to everyone that has filled out an application and has been approved. Once you receive the email, you choose which kitten you would like and pay a $500 non-refundable deposit. 04 The balance owed will be when the kitten is 11 weeks and at that time we will make delivery arrangements with you. 05 At 12 weeks old, your kitten is officially ready to go home and become part of your family. This breed often lives 13+ years, so you are committing to many years of care. Maine Coons mature slowly. They may take up to four years or more to reach their full size and adult development. At MurrKatz we want our kittens to go to homes that meet our criteria, so you must submit an application for pre-approval. Once approved, you will be notified when kittens are ready for reservation. Being approved does not automatically reserve a kitten for you. A non-refundable deposit is required to hold your selected kitten once the reserve date is active. You will arrange payment of the balance and delivery once the kitten is 11 weeks old, with the kitten going home at approximately 12 weeks. Because Maine Coons grow large and are very social, make sure your home, lifestyle and family are ready for a big, active and affectionate “gentle giant”. We value continued connection.
